It's normal to have questions about therapy in general and teletherapy in particular. During our first session, we'll explore your goals for therapy and whether teletherapy is the right fit for you.
This is your time! Make sure you have a comfortable, private place to meet with me. It’s fine to talk to me from your car, but not while you’re driving. Also, please don’t walk around with your device during session. I get dizzy!
Reduce distractions by turning off your phone, TV, etc. If you will be using your wi-fi or hotspot to join, take a moment to ensure you’ve shut down other applications or windows that will also be using your wi-fi. Have multiple devices? Remember to check all of them! Have friends or family over who might be using your wi-fi via apps or windows? If so, kindly ask if they can disconnect until your session is over.
Bringing a drink such as soda, water, tea, etc. to your session? Totally normal! But just a friendly reminder that vaping, smoking, using other substances, or drinking alcohol is not appropriate in a teletherapy session – just like it wouldn’t be appropriate if we were meeting in my office.
Need to step away to quiet a pet, use the bathroom, etc.? I get it. Just let me know, set your device down, mute your feed for a moment, and rejoin your session once you’ve taken care of business.
Comfortable, casual clothing is fine, but it is expected you'll be fully dressed during session.
